Foraging Squirrel

It seems that this squirrel was either very hungry or it just likes those maple seeds. It stretched precariously across some very small twigs to reach what it wanted. It got very nervous when it saw me on the other side of the kitchen window but kept coming back to find what it wanted.

We usually put shell corn and black sunflower seed out for the wild birds and other animals after the snow cover is deep enough that it becomes more difficult for the animals to find food. It is relaxing to watch the antics of the squirrels, birds and other animals that come for the daily handout.
