Today is a better day but still feeling like I'm way out in space. Hopefully whatever is keeping me listless will go away.  The picture above was scanned from a drawing that our son did many years ago. There is some detail lost in the reproduction.

This big toad was in our garage but we opted to put it out near to the garden. It would be too easy to roll over this large animal. My husband's high school class is planning a reunion which may take place later in the Summer or early Fall. His class has a reunion every 5 years. My own high school class has not had a reunion in many years. I can only remember the 20th reunion of my class having taken place.  The talk of his reunion brought up a sad memory. About 5 years ago I got a phone call from a classmate that I had not seen in many years. He talked about the possibility of having a small get together of local classmates rather than a huge reunion. I liked the thought but we did not act on that. We talked as if we were close neighbors who see each other every day rather than long lost friends who had not seen each other for a long time. The Old School House in Peninsula Ohio

The old Boston Township schoolhouse in Peninsula, Ohio has been nicely preserved though it seemed a rather depressing looking place as we passed it yesterday. It was cloudy at the time and some granular snow was falling. The old building is now used for town functions and a great contradance takes place there from time to time. It makes me happy to see the preservation of the historic old buildings. I'm certain this school holds many memories, good and bad, for the people who attended school there.

HOW TO MAKE A POMANDER~ They Smell So Good!

How I make a pomander Ingredients: oranges and some whole cloves. Whole cloves can be purchased for less in bulk containers or in a store that sells in bulk quantities. Poke a hole in the orange with a sharp pin or other sharp object and insert a whole clove. You can make patterns on the orange with the cloves or cover them almost completely as shown in the picture. A lime was used for the smaller pomander. Thinner skinned lemons would work well also. The cloves preserve the fruit. There are recipes for rolling the finished pomander in powdered spices but I found that messy and not necessary. I prefer the simple and traditional way of making them. The sharp cloves are a bit hard on the fingers so you may wish to wear some protection. If you poke the hole you can let your children push in the cloves. Tie a ribbon around the pomander, leave it plain or embellish it with some holiday sparkles or tiny bulbs. Add some netting or lace around the poman...
