My Unofficial Autumn Leaf Report for Today
Our flowering crab apples have a bumper crop of the little red fruits this year.
It has been a cold and drizzly day. A ride through the country to Mantua was a nice break. The leaves that we saw in the woods were mostly dull in color. There were a few patches of beautiful color where large old maple trees grew along streets in the town. Many leaves have dried up and fallen. The dry Summer may have affected the Fall colors and leaf retention on the trees quite a bit. I think the bright leaves look strikingly bright against a dark cloudy Fall sky. Next week should bring the peak Fall colors in our area.
These are some leaves that have fallen in our yard.
